Beginner Surf Lessons Donegal

Beginner-friendly surf lessons on Donegal's Atlantic coast.
Your first wave starts here.

Never surfed before?

That's not a problem.

You don't have to turn up with a surfboard under your arm or know the different types of waves. If you've never surfed before, we'll start with the basics and take it from there.

The first few minutes can feel a bit strange. You're lying on a board, trying to paddle, watching the waves and wondering when you're supposed to stand up.

Then you catch one.

Even a small one.

That's usually the moment it starts to make sense.

Our beginner surf lessons in Donegal are for people who want to learn the basics, get into the water and enjoy the experience without making a big production out of it.

What happens during a lesson?

You'll be taught what you need to know before getting into the water.

That includes getting used to the board, finding the right position, paddling and learning how to catch a wave. You'll also work on getting to your feet.

It won't necessarily happen right away.

You might stand up on your first try. You may fall off five times before it works. Both are totally normal.

Surfing is learned by doing it. You have a go, see what happens, and then try again.

As you get more comfortable, you can start working on your balance, wave selection, and riding the board for longer periods.

You don't have to be a natural

Surfing can look effortless when someone knows what they're doing.

It isn't.

There's a lot going on when you're learning it. Timing matters. So does where you are on the board and how you paddle into a wave.

That's why a lesson helps.

Instead of spending the morning trying to work everything out yourself, you've got someone there to show you what to do and help you when something isn't quite working.
